This is an unrestored Lachenal 48-Key Treble with brass reeds. It has been fitted with a set of homemade bellows at some point in recent years.
This is an example of one of Lachenal’s top tutor-model instruments, with the signature chamfered edge and lovely rosewood ends. It does have a set of homemade bellows fitted which work and are airtight, if not a little restrictive. The bellows papers have also been applied pretty poorly, but that’s easily corrected. The concertina will need the standard work doing to it- new pads, new valves, and tuned to concert pitch (as it is currently in old pitch). The straps are new though, so you wouldn’t have to worry about those. This is a button which was made with bushings originally and most of them still appear to be there, although replacements will need to be made for a few buttons at least. We’re sure that this will be a lovely instrument with some tender care and attention, we just have to prioritise other concertinas at the moment so would rather make the space by selling this one to somebody looking for a project.
This concertinas comes with a week’s approval* but no Barleycorn guarantee.
*The week’s approval period ends 7 days after the concertina is delivered, or if any restoration work is carried out
