This is a Wheatstone 48-Key Treble with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads and valves in recent years, and has been tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

Although we can’t be sure who has restored this concertina in its life, it appears to have had a full action rebuild at some point and, as a result, is a lightning-fast player. Tonally it leans slightly toward to brighter side of the scale, but is overall a very balanced concertina with 6-fold bellows, making it very versatile. the bellows aren’t original and we’re not entirely sure who they’re made by, by they’re completely sound and airtight without being too flexible. It’s a model that sits in the middle of the English concertina scale, but the work that’s been done to make it as quick a player as possible pushes it to a higher level than it usually would be.
