This is a Lachenal New Model 48-Key Treble with glass buttons. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

This is a really nice instrument. It’s quite rare to find a Lachenal with glass buttons that isn’t an Excelsior- we’ve not seen a huge amount of metal-ended instruments with glass buttons over the years. That tends to suggest that this was made to order especially, and that usually indicates slightly higher quality. It is a responsive concertina with a lovely tone- very balanced for a metal-ender. It’s very air-efficient, and the 6-fold bellows combined with that mean that it’s a very nice concertina to play. We’ve sold a lot of metal-ended ‘New Model’ instruments over the past few months, so we don’t expect this one to be around for very long.
