This is a Lachenal Edeophone 56-Key Extended-Treble with steel reeds. It has been completely refurbished, with new pads, valves, bushings, straps and bellows. It has been tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz). The ends have also been refinished.
As you can tell just from the pictures alone, this an instrument in absolutely immaculate condition. All of the work has been done to a top standard, helping this Edeophone play at the absolute peak of its potential. It is incredibly responsive with a lovely balanced tone- not too harsh, not too quiet. It also has the huge benefit on new bellows. Edeophones are the instruments with the most resilient bellows due to their shape, so a new set on one of these concertinas will last many, many years without an issue.
Some people may be put off by the fact that the concertina is an Extended-Treble, but in reality there’s no real difference between this and an Edeophone Treble. The standard 48-Key Treble buttons are in exactly the same place, the Extended-Treble is the same size as a Treble, and the top reeds are so light that there is no noticeable difference in weight. So if you have reservations about the extra buttons that you wouldn’t use, then just treat this Edeophone exactly how you’d treat a standard Treble.
A wonderful thing.
