This is a Lachenal Edeophone 48-Key Treble with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new ends, bushings, pads, valves and straps, and been tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

As you’ve probably already noticed, this Edeophone isn’t like any other due to its flat ends. It has had new ends made due to the previous ones being completely smashed and unsalvageable, and there are only a few people in the world who can make new raised ends. The benefit of this is that it’s an English concertina at a fairly unique price point- the quality of a £2700 instrument but a fair amount cheaper. It’s a good player- responsive, with dynamic range but also a little more mellow than its raised-ended counterparts. It’s in very good condition all-round. It’s worth noting that button travel is a little higher on this concertina.
