This is a Lachenal 48-Key Tutor-Model with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

This particular model of Lachenal English concertinas is at the top-end of the ‘tutor model’ range, distinguishable with its steel reeds, chamfered edge around the ends, and bushings around the buttons. These instruments are always higher quality than their mahogany and brass-reeded counterparts. This concertina is a good player for the price- a balanced tone and fairly quick. The ends are in decent condition with a couple of blemishes, but the bellows aren’t in the best condition aesthetically (but perfectly airtight), which is reflected in the price.
