This is a Lachenal 48-Key Tutor Model with brass reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).
As concertinas go, this could be considered a fairly famous one, having been featured on ‘The Bidding Room’ on the BBC in the last year. A piece of television history? Perhaps not. But it is a very nice example of the higher-end Lachenal tutor model. The ends are in a very tidy condition, and the concertina does play well- it’s responsive and with a more mellow tone that you might expect from a brass-reeded instrument. We would usually be asking more money for a concertina of this quality, but the bellows have internal patches and aren’t in incredible condition. They are completely airtight and the playability of the instrument isn’t effected, but we always take money of the price of the instrument if any part of it isn’t to the level of quality that we’d quite like- it’s just hard to justify replacing bellows like this which aren’t bad on a concertina of this price point.
Model: 48-Key Treble
