This is a Lachenal 48-Key Treble Paragon with steel reeds. It has been fitted with a new set of 6-fold bellows, new pads, valves and straps, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

We always stock and sell a large number of Lachenal Paragons as they are one of the most common models of English-system concertina, but this is the best one we’ve had in a very long time. As you can see from the pictures, the ends are in extremely tidy original condition (which is uncommon for a Paragon), and the only issue we had when the instrument arrived was that the bellows were ripped in half. Obviously there is no way of knowing how good a concertina is in that state, but as soon as we had fitted a new set of 6-fold bellows, it became clear that this would be a cracking instrument. It’s a very fast player, with a lovely well-rounded tone. A real joy to play for an instrument in this price range. If you’ve been perhaps looking to upgrade from your first tutor model/cheap hybrid English and were considering a Paragon, then we would thoroughly recommend that you spend a tiny bit more money on this one because it’s one of the best examples of this model that we’ve seen.
