This is a Wheatstone 48-Key Crane with steel reeds. It has been re-finished and bushed, and fitted with new pads, valves and straps and 6-fold bellows. The serial number is 34625.
As you can see, this is an instrument in absolutely stunning condition. The refinish has brought out the wonderful grain of the wood, and everything looks completely perfect aesthetically. Internally, this is a Wheatstone from the later period, which was their weakest time for manufacturing. That being said, this is a nice instrument. It’s pretty responsive and has a well-rounded tone, and unlike some later Wheatstones, it’d be fairly difficult to distinguish it from Wheatstone’s better instruments in terms of sound.
