This is a Lachenal 55-Key Maccann with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and been tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

Somebody has altered this Maccann at some point to effectively make it play like a 57-Key Maccann, with the right hand starting on a mid-C instead of the usual G you’d expect on a 55-Key. This is what pretty much every Maccann player at a decent level is looking for, and it’s rare to have it available on a cheaper and smaller model of Maccann. It is a good player- a definite improvement on your first 39 or 46-Key Maccann, but the major selling point of this instrument is the versatility its conversion into a Maccann with a C on the right-hand allows, something that would usually cost you an extra £500-£1000. It also has the benefit of very nice 7-fold bellows.
