This is a Wheatstone 30-Key Anglo in C/G with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new ends, bushings, pads, valves and straps, and been tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

Many Wheatstone anglos of this period (serial number 53469) ended up in South Africa, and were often heavily modified and messed-around with. This is one such concertina, and we have replaced the ends as the original ones were beyond saving. This also explains the 9-fold bellows, which are actually in good condition and working order. Ultimately, it’ll never be as good as a good-period Wheatstone, but it is priced accordingly, and most people would agree that it’s an upgrade on a Lachenal rosewood 30-Key. It is pretty responsive with a rounded tone.
