This is a lovely Lachenal 20-Key Darkwood Anglo in C/G with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and has been tuned to concert pitch.
This is an instrument which is in remarkable condition considering its age. Lachenal anglos are notorious for turning up in all kinds of conditions- they are usually thoroughly messed-around with. This one, however, was the quickest restoration job we’ve ever had to do on one of these concertinas. It has clearly been kept incredibly safe throughout its life, and could only have been opened one or two times. As a result, the fretwork is impressively good for an instrument of its age.
The concertina is a really nice player, and the baffles give it a slightly more mellow tone than it would have without them- obviously they’re very easy to take off based on preference.
It comes with a very nice wooden case and working key in good condition, although it will need a handle fitting.
