This is a Lachenal 30-Key Anglo in C/G with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and tuned to concert pitch. The serial number is 163169.

Lachenals with serial numbers in the 160,000s tend to have the best reeds Lachenal ever made, and whilst this is obviously an anglo at the lower end of the price and quality scale, it’s still noticeably better than its equivalents from other periods. It is a pretty good player all-in-all. It’s responsive and has a lovely mellow tone (due, in part, to the baffles on each end- which could be removed if you so wished). It’s also in fairly tidy condition overall, with just a few wear marks from lots of playing over the years.
