This is a Lachenal 30-Key Anglo in C/G with steel reeds. It has been fitted with a new set of 6-fold bellows, new pads, valves and straps, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).
This is a late-period Lachenal that was in a rough state when we got it. It had its original (but very restrictive) bellows on it, so we decided to give it an overhaul to try and make it the best player it could be. We firstly replaced the bellows with a much more flexible set (and fitted the bellows from this one onto another concertina), and then we replaced a percentage of the reeds- the original reeds were poorly made and had been treated badly over the years. So this concertina is now a much better instrument than it was, but it is what it always has been- the cheapest metal-ended anglo that Lachenal made. It is now much more responsive than it was and it sounds much better, but it plays like a good anglo for £1600- not a good anglo for £2000 plus. However, for this reason it might be the perfect concertina for somebody looking to upgrade from a mahogany-ended brass-reeded 30-Key to something better without breaking the bank.
Model: 30-Key in C/G
