This is a Lachenal 30-Key Anglo in C/G with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz). The serial number is 160867.

We have come to the conclusion over the years that the best period for Lachenal anglos such as this is anywhere in the 160,000s- from what we’ve seen with the hundreds of concertinas we’ve had from this period, the reeds just seem to be consistently very good. There’s no exception with this concertina- it’s a lovely player, being very responsive with an extremely well-rounded tone. Besides the usual wear and tear around the buttons, the ends are in a pretty tidy condition, and the bellows also have the benefit of having had new papers fitted, making them look much fresher.

This is the standard model for people wanting to take Irish music seriously, and there’s a very good reason for that- it is reliable, consistent and well-made.
