This is a Lachenal 26-Key Anglo in G/D with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, had a professional bellows re-bind, and has been tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

There are some instruments that we work on that become favourites of ours during the restoration process, whether they’re a really nice-playing tutor model or a top-end Aeola. This is a concertina that we’re very fond of. The different label shape tells us that this instrument was made for the Salvation Army, and tend to signify a concertina of slightly better quality than ordinary versions of the same model. This instrument plays very quickly for an anglo of this price range, and has a lovely well-rounded and balanced tone. We’re really frustrated that this isn’t a 30-Key as that’s what its quality deserves, but that does mean that if you’re looking for a G/D 26-Key then you’re getting one of the best you’ll find. A lovely, lovely thing.
