This is a Lachenal Edeophone 56-Key Extended-Treble with steel reeds. It has been refinished, re-bushed, fitted with new 6-fold bellows, pads, valves and straps, and been tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

This is a concertina in absolutely immaculate condition do to a thorough restoration. It’s also a really nice player, which always helps! Whilst, generally, the Wheatstone Aeola is regarded as a superior instrument to the Edeophone, there are group of concertina players who actually prefer the Edeophone and the Lachenal action- in which case this would be a lovely instrument due to its condition and playability (fast, responsive and with a lovely balanced tone). Even if you aren’t part of the Edeophone fan club, the model still provides a fantastic mid-point between a £1500 Wheatstone/Lachenal and a £4000 Aeola. It’s an all-round great concertina, and will only improve over time once the bellows and valves get played in. A really nice example of Lachenal’s top model.
