This is a Wheatstone Pinhole Aeola 48-Key Treble that has been fitted with new pads and valves, and has been tuned to concert pitch. It also features a set of 5-fold bellows, and this model would usually have been made with 4-fold which makes this concertina a little less restrictive.
Whilst this instrument does show signs of finger wear around the buttons and the thumb straps (as pictured), it really is a lovely player with a gentle sound. Pinhole Aeolas are pretty rare, and the benefit of them is that you’re getting a full set of very good Wheatstone reeds without the extra cost of a standard Aeola. In general though, a pinhole Aeola and a standard Aeola are two different instruments due to the fretwork. This concertina will never be as loud or as bright as a normal Aeola, which makes it absolutely perfect for somebody looking to accompany their own singing.
This concertina also comes with a brilliant case- probably made by Colin Dipper.
Model: Pinhole Aeola Treble
