This is a Wheatstone 56-Key Extended-Treble Aeola (serial number 37015). It has been fitted with new pads and valves, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).
This is a strange instrument due to the fact that it’s an Aeola (8-sided) but with flat ends. This does make sense when considering how late-period it is, when manufacturing costs and quality of materials were greatly reduced. It is important for us to point out that this instrument is not the quality that you would usually associate with a Wheatstone Aeola- nowhere near it. That’s why it’s priced the way it is.
Having said that, this is a decent English concertina. It’s in virtually mint condition, it has steel reeds and 6-fold bellows, and it would definitely be an upgrade from a tutor model or lower-middle-range English such as a brass-reeded Paragon etc. It is also very light.
If you want the Wheatstone name without the extra price (and extra quality), then this might be perfect for you.
