This is a Wheatstone 48-Key Treble with raised metal-ends and steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz). The serial number is 31853.

This is a quality concertina in very tidy condition, and it has the massive advantage of having a serial number in the 31000s- which, by our understanding, is Wheatstone’s very best period. This concertina does nothing to change that theory, as the reeds are fantastically responsive and have a wonderful tone, and the built quality is incredibly good. We would usually hope to have a set of 6-fold bellows on an instrument like this, but when the original bellows are in such good condition then it’d be criminal to change that, but the efficiency of the concertina also means that you don’t actually lose out on too much by having one less fold in the bellows.
