This is a Lachenal Paragon 48-Key Treble with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads and valves, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).
The Paragon is a staple of the English concertina scene, and is the next step up from a standard ‘tutor model’ instrument. This is a nice example of a Paragon. It has a good set of Lachenal steel reeds, and is a nice player with a balanced tone that edges slightly more on the softer side. It has 5-fold bellows which have had new bellows papers put on to replace to the old dirty and worn set, leaving the concertina looking a lot fresher. This model can often be very messed around with and have signs of wear on the fretwork, whereas this concertina is in pretty tidy condition in comparison.
A great upgrade from your first tutor model English concertina.
