A beautiful Lachenal Non Pareil model number 27190 which would be mid 1880’s.
This would be one of the two top models at the time it was made only superseded by the New Model amboyna.
It has wonderful amboyna ends, metal buttons and other gold plated fittings, steel reeds, and a highly decorated set of brown and gold tooled 5 fold bellows in great condition.
It is in wonderful original condition and the only thing I can see are a few old, tiny cracks in the fretwork-which you almost always see with that wood.
It has been fitted with new pads, valves, straps, springs and is tuned to concert pitch.
It has steel reeds but it is an early concertina and has cloth baffles so it has a mellow gentle sound and is not harsh at all.
If beautiful instruments are your thing and you don’t want a loud shrill concertina but one that plays easily and fast-this is for you. It has its original amboyna case but the lock is detached. I don’t have time to restore cases but it can easily be improved and needs to be kept with the instrument.
I ought to mention that it has a Thomas Dawkins dealers label which someone in the past has put lines through. I couldn’t decide whether or not to replace it with a reproduction Lachenal label but in the end I left it in place for originality.
Model: Non-Pareil 48 Key
