This is a Lachenal Excelsior Treble with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and been tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

The Lachenal Excelsior is always a lovely-looking concertina, and this one is a nice player. The only slight downside is that, as can often be the case with this model, the fretwork has suffered minor cracking in a few areas. These have been glued and supported from behind so they aren’t moving cracks, but they do affect the aesthetics of the instrument (and the price has been chosen accordingly). Besides that, this is a nice player with a balanced tone, and would be a great upgrade from somebody’s first tutor model instrument.
