This is a Lachenal Edeophone 48-Key Baritone with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and has been tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

This is a concertina that is the product of two separate Edeophone Baritones that were out of commission for different reasons. The first had completely destroyed ends but a good set of the reeds, and the second was from the period of Lachenal aluminium reed frames which crumbled into white dust, becoming completely unsalvageable. Work has been done to fit the reeds properly into their new reedpan, and whilst we would never claim that this Baritone is as good as either of the two original Baritones would have been when they were made, it is a fully-working, nice-sounding Baritone that looks lovely. It is a responsive player with a soft, rounded tone.
