This is a Lachenal ‘Boyd’ Extended-Treble with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps in the last couple of years, and has been tuned to concert pitch.

Whilst most Boyd concertinas have the name ‘H Boyd’ in the fretwork on the ends, there is no doubt that this instrument was made in the same style and for the same destination. It is a very fast concertina with a light action and a really responsive set of reeds. It also has plenty of volume, as well as that distinct Boyd brightness to the tone.
