This concertina was sold by me some months ago and it has achieved what we always hope for-it has got someone playing and in love with the instrument.
He has just upgraded to the next level and this has returned to get someone else on the road to being a player.
It has bone buttons, brass reeds , mahogany ends and four fold bellows.
I was fitted with new pads, valves, straps and tuned to concert pitch.
It is number 38952 which would be around the 1890’s.
It plays surprisingly well and is a wonderful instrument for a beginner and way, way, better than these Chinese plastic copies which cost almost as much-are bigger than a real concertina, sound awful and depreciate like a stone-this will hold its value and come back in at the price that is paid for it in an upgrade situation-as has just happened!
