This is a complete rarity, and we’ve never seen anything like this before. This is a commission sale, and we are selling it as-is. We have not restored this instrument, and it does not qualify for Barleycorn’s 1-year guarantee. It can, however, still be bought on a week’s approval.
As you can tell, this is one of the most decorative concertinas Lachenal, or most other makers, ever made. It features a huge amount of mother-of-pearl inlay, as well as distinctive red bellows.
There is a small amount of fretwork damage on the left hand side, and there has been a fairly poor bellows repair job done in the past (pictured), but neither of these things take away from how rare and impressive this instrument is.
The concertina does play, but it’s worth more for its rarity and history than for its sound.
Model: 48-Key Treble
