This is a Wheatstone 55-Key Aeola Crane Duet with steel reeds. It has had a full refurbishment- the ends have been refinished, and the concertina has been fitted with a new set of bellows, new button bushings, pads, valves and straps, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz). The serial number of this concertina is 29105.

It’s genuinely exciting for us to have a top-end Crane duet back in stock, because it’s one instrument we’ve been struggling to get hold of for a very long time. The demand for Crane duets is incredibly high in contrast with the numbers of Cranes that were ever made- which was very low. This is an instrument that comes from Wheatstone’s top period, and top-period reeds combined with a beautiful refurbishment places this concertina at the very top end of Cranes that you could get anywhere. It’s a lovely player- responsive with a gorgeous balanced tone. It starts at a C4 on the right hand and a G2 on the left.
