This is a Lachenal New Model 62-Key Maccann in Bb with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads and valves, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

This is a very interesting concertina simply due to the fact that it’s in a different key to the standard Maccann, which will either put people off completely, or make it the perfect instrument for somebody looking for something different. If you consider a normal Maccann to be centred around the key of C, then this is centred around the key of Bb. In other terms, every note is a tone lower than you would expect. This obviously has the advantage of making different keys more practical, and would have favoured musicians playing with brass instruments in the past. Apart from the Lachenal badge missing, the ends are in pretty good condition, and the concertina is a good player with a lovely, rounded tone.
