This is a Lachenal 48-Key Crane Duet with steel reeds. It had been fitted with new pads and valves, and been tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

We’ve been short of Crane duets in stock for a long time, so it’s good to have some available! This is a slightly lower-end ‘tutor model’ 48-Key Crane with bone buttons, but it does have steel reeds and six-fold bellows. The ends are in fairly good condition, but with some slight damage around some of the bolt-holes. It’s a decent player- fairly responsive with a slightly more mellow tone. This wouldn’t be an instrument for someone wanting to take the Crane very seriously and play a varied repertoire of music, but it’d be a brilliant to learn on until the perfect instrument was needed/came along, and these cheaper Crane duets really don’t come up that often.
