This is a Lachenal 46-Key Maccann with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).
Later period Lachenals tend to be much poorer quality than their earlier counterparts- with two exceptions. The higher end Englishes from that time (some of the best concertinas they made) and, for some strange reason, their 46-Key Maccanns like this. It has a really good set of steel reeds, and they are responsive and well-balanced in terms of tone. The original 6-fold bellows are in good condition, although there are a couple of very small external patches and one internal patch. This would be the perfect instrument for somebody looking to move on from their first 39-Key Maccann, or somebody wanting to start their Maccann journey with something higher-quality.
Model: 46-Key Maccann
