This is a Wheatstone 30-Key Anglo in C/G with steel reeds (serial number 50727). It has had new ends, bellows, pads, valves, straps and bushings, and been tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).

Late period Wheatstone anglos such as this one can be very hit and miss, but the reason that we spent time and money on this one is that it has proper concertina reeds- even if the rest of the instrument was a wreck. It’s safe to say that our risk paid off with this one, as it has turned out to be a really nice playing concertina in a price range that hardly any other anglo occupies. The flat ebonised ends won’t be for everyone as they don’t exactly look ‘premium’, but it’s an instrument that looks like new and plays well. It is responsive and with a well-rounded tone. It does have Wheatstone late ‘hook action’ as opposed to the preferable riveted levers, but it still feels nice to the touch and the action is light.

Pretty much one of the only genuine anglos available between £2750 and £4000.
