This is an unknown maker 30-Key in C/G with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new ends, bellows, pads, valves and straps, and has been tuned to concert pitch.

Although we don’t know the name of the person who made this concertina, we have seen their work before. It is somebody who made concertinas around the same time as Jeffries, and stylistically, their instruments are heavily inspired by Jeffries- parallel reedpans, similar fretwork, similar actions. This one’s original ends had a fake Jeffries engraving, but not done by the original maker- just somebody trying to make some extra money down the line (although if they had spelled Jeffries correctly, that may have helped!).

This is a nice, responsive concertina with a bright tone- fairly similar to a Crabb, tonally. It looks very fresh thanks to a very thorough restoration, and falls into a price point that not many top anglos do,
