This is a Shakespeare 30-Key in Bb/F with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads and valves, and has been tuned.

A lot of concertina are incorrectly identified as Shakespeares- it’s become a standard name used for Jeffries-style instruments with no maker’s mark. This one is internally marked Shakespeare, so we know for certain that it is made by Thomas Shakespeare. It is a nice player with a riveted action. It has a slightly brighter tone, which is no bad thing for an instrument in Bb/F.
