This is a Lachenal mahogany-ended 30-Key anglo in C/G with steel reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz)

The serial number is 198577 which dates it to the 1920’s.

Later period Lachenal anglos have a tendency to be much poorer quality than their earlier counterparts, but occasionally one stands out as being very decent. Whilst this model of instrument will never be the best concertina in the world, it is a fine little player for what it is and for the price it is listed at. Getting a genuine concertina-reeded instrument with 30-Keys for £1100 is about as good as it gets, especially when considering the reeds are steel. A very good starting instrument for somebody wanting to explore Irish-style concertina playing.
