This is a Lachenal 28-Key in G/D with brass reeds. It has been fitted with new pads, valves and straps, and tuned to concert pitch.

For what it is, and for the price we’re selling it for, this is a surprisingly good concertina. Whilst it isn’t in fantastic aesthetic condition (a couple of small non-structural cracks in the fretwork and damage around the end bolts), this is a nice playing instrument with a lovely soft tone, and is also fairly responsive. It also has the benefit of 6-fold bellows which makes this an easy concertina to play. Brass reeds certainly won’t be for every musician, but on this concertina and in the key of G/D, they add to an almost harmonium-esque tone, which is really lovely.

Whilst this may not be as suitable for a lot of music as a 30-key would be, it’s a really great thing for somebody wanting to try out new ways of playing in new keys, or to accompany singing.
