A good 38 key Jeffries with the earlier mark-between the buttons which would date it to the late 19th century or just edging into the 20th C
It has metal ends, metal buttons, steel reeds and 6 fold bellows.
Was fitted a few years ago with new pads, valves, straps and tuned to concert pitch.
The bellows are original but have had a rebind and new bellows papers. Has a tiny bit of veneer missing on one of the side rails.
Plays very well with that totally unique Jeffries tone.
In the last few weeks a couple of these have fetched in auction as much as I am asking for this instrument although they were unrestored and in old pitch. One of them cost over £500 more than I am asking-so prices will be going up towards the high level we used to have before the economic crash.
Of course those prices included the auctioneer’s commission and the seller got over £2000 less than the price that was paid. The lesson is that it is crazy to put Jeffries into auction. We guarantee to pay as much as £1000 more than you will actually achieve at any auction-without waiting for it to come up for sale for months then waiting weeks for payment. We buy them outright for top prices if they are the right instruments.
This is the only Jeffries on the website but we have lots of them in stock-in a variety of keys, with a variety of buttons and sizes-so ask if you are looking for one. We have more in one place than all the shops in the World added together and a lot that you will buy from other sources actually are ours.
