Hello everyone, and welcome to the brand new Barleycorn Concertinas website. It’s obviously been, and continues to be, a tough time for us all, but we’ve chosen to use this time of Covid-19 to reflect on our business and modernise the way we work to be more compatible for use in 2020- starting with our website.
If you’re used to navigating our website to check the latest stock selection then hopefully you won’t have any difficulty in doing the same thing- we’ve kept the website as accessible as possible, and it should be easier for you to find what you’re looking for. A new feature that is very exciting for us is a new way of letting us know exactly what you’re looking for. We always receive requests for concertina ‘oddities’. Baritone anglos, bass concertinas and so on. Our new feature allows us to keep a record of these requests, so when something comes into stock that matches what you’re looking for, we can contact you and save you the stress of constantly having to get in touch to see if anything new has come in.
We’ve also made it easier to sell your concertinas to Barleycorn. Our new ‘Sell Your Concertina’ page has a form where you can upload the information we’d need to give you a fair offer for your instrument. As those who have dealt with us before will know, we’re not about making as much money as possible at your expense- we make sure that everybody who sells us an instrument receives a fair price- often a higher price than is asked for. Selling to a dealer may seem like a silly thing to do, but when you take into account the percentages you lose selling in auctions, it works out best to come to Barleycorn direct. A fair price is always guaranteed.
Obviously Covid-19 has changed the way we all do things. After a quiet few weeks at the start of the UK lockdown, we began to sell more concertinas than ever, with a growing amount of custom internationally. We continue to offer our one-week approval on shipped purchases- if the instrument gets to you and it isn’t quite for your needs, just send it back to us and get your money back. We’d always recommend a trip to us to try as many instruments as possible, but the most important thing is to keep you safe. It’s also worth noting that the stock you see on our website is a fraction of the concertinas we actually have, so if you can’t find anything on here that’s quite right, then just give us a call or drop us an email and we’ll see what we can do for you.
We’ll be keeping this website updated a lot more frequently, and new instruments will be added frequently, so keep coming back and checking for yourself. We’ll be posting articles about specific instruments as well as general posts on interesting topics here, and now that Ciaran is involved in the business, these can be typed up a lot quicker and put out more regularly.
Thanks for visiting the Barleycorn Concertinas website, and keep looking after each other.
